Our Man in the Field is the sonic alter ego of British songwriter Alex Ellis—a project hitting its creative stride with a sound that’s both expansive and intimate. Drawing comparisons to Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice, and Wilco, Ellis’s vivid storytelling and unmistakable tenor have become hallmarks of a band whose songs feel like short films: emotional, unvarnished, and built to last.
Blending Americana, indie-folk, and cinematic soul, the band has carved out a reputation for performances that move effortlessly from hushed intimacy to widescreen grandeur. 2025 proved to be a breakthrough year, with acclaimed shows at SXSW in Austin and the Kilkenny Roots Festival, followed by standout festival slots at Glastonbury—where they packed the Acoustic Stage to capacity—and a career-defining performance at London’s Hyde Park, supporting Neil Young before tens of thousands. Both appearances drew glowing praise for the band’s ability to captivate large audiences with songs that cut straight to the heart.
That momentum has carried into the release of their eagerly anticipated third album, Silverado, recorded at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios and produced by Dire Straits’ Guy Fletcher. Featuring a remarkable roster of collaborators—including Sonny Landreth, Nick Pini, Matt Owens (Noah and the Whale), Ethan Johns, Robbie McIntosh, and Will Fry (Jungle)—the album expands the band’s sonic landscape while staying true to their emotionally honest core. The result is a record that feels both timeless and immediate: richly textured, deeply human, and unmistakably their own.
With recent support from BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, and Mark Radcliffe, as well as a UK Americana Award nomination for Song of the Year with “L’Étranger,” Our Man in the Field’s star continues to rise. Veteran critic Bill Bentley hailed their last album as “nothing short of momentous—albums like this come along once every decade.”
Following more than 150 live shows across the UK, Europe, and the US—including tours with Chuck Prophet and The Delines—the band’s live performances have become must-see events. Their upcoming UK & Ireland headline tour culminates in a sold-out night at London’s legendary 100 Club, before they return to the road in 2026 for a string of special dates, including this intimate performance at Acapela Studio.
Expect an evening of soul-stirring storytelling, soaring melodies, and songs that linger long after the final note.

PLEASE NOTE THE VENUE RELIES ON THE INCOME FROM DINING TO ENSURE WE CAN BOOK ALL THE GREAT ACTS PERFORMING.
Income from the provision of pizzas is very important to the venue and if you have booked a table it is a requirement that all people sat at tables order food - a salad alternative is available to pizzas. Please do ensure that all individuals will be ordering on your table - if this is not the case please cancel your table so others who are looking to dine can do so. Our apologies to raise this but recently we have had many tables (some very large) where less than 50% of those sat at tables have ordered food. Financially this is a real problem to the sustainability of the venue.
- All seating at tables must purchase a pizza - so please do not book a table if everyone is not eating.
- Please ensure that you arrive 10 minutes before the time slot allocated to order your pizzas prior to your booking time.
- Tables not seated within 15 minutes of the allocated time may be lost and allocated to other audience members wishing to order pizzas.
- If you wish to book a table for 6 or more please email info@acapela.co.uk
Please note that all of our pizzas are made fresh to order. It may take up to 45 minutes to be served during busy periods.
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO BOOK A TABLE YOU CAN STILL ORDER PIZZAS ON THE NIGHT (USUALLY ON BUSY NIGHTS NO LATER THAN 7.15PM) AND WE WILL SERVE THEM TO YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE SAT IN THE VENUE - IN A PIZZA BOX.
