Furfiodd y band yn 2006, gan esblygu o chwarae yn nhafarndai Bro Ffestiniog i wyliau cerddorol megis Gŵyl Car Gwyllt, Tân y Ddraig, Maes B, a Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau yn 2007. Daeth yr ysbrydoliaeth i enw’r band drwy ddylanwad y band “Old Crow Medicine Show” ac er cof am Jac y Frân, anifail anwes Phil, un o’r aelodau.
Rhyddhawyd eu halbwm gyntaf, Cedors Hen Wrach yn 2007 ar label Rasal. Lansiwyd eu hail albwm, Tafod Dy Wraig yn Haf 2008 a dilynodd eu trydydd albwm, Llechan Wlyb ym mis Mai 2010.
Ym mis Tachwedd 2010, cyhoeddodd dau o aelodau Gwibdaith Hen Frân – Paul Thomas a Robert Ifan Buckley – eu bod yn bwriadu gadael y band. Fodd bynnag, cyhoeddodd Philip Lee Jones y buasai Gwibdaith Hen Frân yn parhau i berfformio hyd yn oed pe bai’r ddau yn gadael.
Ymunodd 3 aelod newydd â’r band ym mis Rhagfyr 2010; sef Justin Allen Davies (Mandolin / Harmonica), Gary Richardson (Gitâr Fas), ac Ieuan Williamson (Banjo), ac yn dilyn bron i dair mlynedd o deithio a pherfformio rhyddhawyd eu 4ydd albwm Yn Ôl ar y Ffordd ym mis Awst 2013.
Formed in 2006, Gwibdaith Hen Frân evolved from playing in local pubs in Bro Ffestiniog to gracing the stages of renowned music festivals, including Gŵyl Car Gwyllt, Tân y Ddraig, Maes B, and Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau in 2007. The band’s name draws inspiration from the American roots band Old Crow Medicine Show and serves as a tribute to Jac y Frân, the beloved pet of band member Phil.
The band made a notable entrance into the music scene with the release of their first album, Cedors Hen Wrach, in 2007 through the Rasal label. The momentum continued with their second album, Tafod Dy Wraig, launched in summer 2008, followed by their third album, Llechan Wlyb, released in May 2010.
In November 2010, a significant change occurred when two founding members, Paul Thomas and Robert Ifan Buckley, announced their departure from the band. Despite this, Philip Lee Jones assured fans that Gwibdaith Hen Frân would continue to perform, showcasing the band’s resilience and commitment to their music.
December 2010 saw the addition of three new members: Justin Allen Davies (Mandolin/Harmonica), Gary Richardson (Bass Guitar), and Ieuan Williamson (Banjo). This revitalization led to nearly three years of touring and performing, culminating in the release of their fourth album, Yn Ôl ar y Ffordd, in August 2013.
In 2021, after a fruitful journey filled with music and memories, the group announced their decision to cease performing together, leaving behind a legacy of vibrant performances and heartfelt music that resonates with their fans.
Book a table for pre-concert dining
Acapela Studio provides pre-concert dining between 6.00pm and 7.30pm from our pizza oven. To view the current menu visit here.
Please purchase your concert tickets first before booking a table. We will not accept any table bookings that do not have a corresponding ticket purchase.
Then return to the event page to book your table, by selecting the date of your event, number of diners and time you require table. The times shown are the only vacancies left. Please complete your email and phone number as this is required to ensure your table is allocated. You will receive confirmation of your booking by email and text.
If on the date you have chosen no tables are available - no times will be shown and the booking system will revert you back to todays date - PLEASE ENSURE YOU BOOK THE CORRECT DATE!
PLEASE NOTE THE VENUE RELIES ON THE INCOME FROM DINING TO ENSURE WE CAN BOOK ALL THE GREAT ACTS PERFORMING.
Income from the provision of pizzas is very important to the venue and if you have booked a table it is a requirement that all people sat at tables order food - a salad alternative is available to pizzas. Please do ensure that all individuals will be ordering on your table - if this is not the case please cancel your table so others who are looking to dine can do so. Our apologies to raise this but recently we have had many tables (some very large) where less than 50% of those sat at tables have ordered food. Financially this is a real problem to the sustainability of the venue.
- All seating at tables must purchase a pizza - so please do not book a table if everyone is not eating.
- Please ensure that you arrive 10 minutes before the time slot allocated to order your pizzas prior to your booking time.
- Tables not seated within 15 minutes of the allocated time may be lost and allocated to other audience members wishing to order pizzas.
- If you wish to book a table for 6 or more please email info@acapela.co.uk
Please note that all of our pizzas are made fresh to order. It may take up to 45 minutes to be served during busy periods.
IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO BOOK A TABLE YOU CAN STILL ORDER PIZZAS ON THE NIGHT (USUALLY ON BUSY NIGHTS NO LATER THAN 7.15PM) AND WE WILL SERVE THEM TO YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE SAT IN THE VENUE - IN A PIZZA BOX.
