From the moment Fyfe sat at the Grand piano and sang his first song, the audience could instantly tell they were about to experience a very special evening of music.

Seeing Fyfe Dangerfield perform should be on everyone’s music bucket list. The concert was filled with Guillemot favourites and songs from Fyfe’s solo career combining haunting love songs with the most demonic piano playing of anthemic songs I have certainly ever seen. Absolutely breath taking.

This concert was up there in my top 3 favourites of all time – which includes seeing Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and the great Steve Harley. Tears rolled down my face twice during the evening, firstly as Fyfe ended his first set with the amazing Sao Paulo, which equally matched Harley’s performance of his classic song “Sebastian” at Acapela. The Sao Paulo original is a massive track with huge orchestration and I thought it would be unlikely he would play it, as to do it justice surely could not be achieved by one man on a piano!? But he did and the man on the piano made it sound as if there was an orchestra in the room – by the time the dying notes were ringing out, tears of joy were running down my face…happy to have experienced hearing such a masterpiece live. The Acapela piano has never been played with such intensity and passion!

The audience was euphoric after such a brilliant opening set and you could feel the excitement in the room as they readied themselves for more. And they were not disappointed as Fyfe played a magnificent 2nd set alternating between guitar and the grand piano with so many brilliant Guillemot favourites and a cover thrown in to!

Finally, possibly my favourite ever love song came right at the end , the brilliant “If the World Ends” and guess what? My eyes went moist and again a tear rolled down my cheek.  My wife, sat beside me, knew exactly what this song means to me and together we soaked up every last word and note of this beautiful song.

All I can say to you is when Fyfe returns to Acapela make sure you get to see this amazing musician and experience one of the best nights you will ever see at Acapela or in fact anywhere!
