Many of you will know that 2024 was a strange one for me when I suddenly found myself experiencing a heart scare! After a week in hospital and several examinations I came out with a stent fitted to rectify the issue. It was a difficult time to ensure Acapela kept running,  but thankfully Stephanie brought in my laptop to the ward and I managed to keep the bookings and announcements running seemlessly…much to the annoyance of some people who thought I should perhaps be resting!

Anyway since May I have taken things slower and have been attempting to build up my strength gradually – many of you I have met whilst walking around the village getting my 10,000 steps in!  To keep myself motivated, I set myself a goal to take on a half marathon hike and with my wife Dawn (who welcomes you on the door) we will be undertaking the Gower Peninsula Mighty Hike 2025 in July. The Gower is my favourite place and the hike takes in many of the beautiful views that we have visited so many times over the years. My family have supported me brilliantly through these months and to my surprise many of them are now joining me on the hike – children, partners and grandchildren, all encouraging me to get out there and keep fit.

The hike is organised by Macmillan so as well as giving me a reason to train we will be raising money for a great charity that does amazing work across Wales. If you would like to help then please visit the Justgiving page and make a donation and as well as supporting a great charity you will motivate me on my recovery……..allowing me to keep booking all these great events at Acapela which I really do enjoy!
